Who was Guido?
Medical doctor, surfer, seminarian and loving son, very dedicated to God.
While offering medical assistance to the poor, helped by the Missionaries of Charity Sisters and thereafter, reading the book "Brother Francis of Assisi" by Ignacio Larrañaga, he decided to drop everything to follow a strong call to the priesthood.
He died at age 34 on May 1st, 2009. His reputation for sanctity soon spread and on Jan 17th, 2015 the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro solemnly opened his beatification process.
Holy Card
Dear God, our Lord,
who through the life of your servant Guido Schäffer,
taught us, by his example and missionary fervor,
to throw ourselves into the sea of faith,
allow us, through his testimony
as a young man, a doctor, a seminarist and a surfer,
to announce Your Word with renewed fervor
and through his intercession
reach the grace we request (ask for grace)
so that we may one day have
the joy of seeing him elevated to the glory of altars.
Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Virgin Mary, Mother of Fair Love, pray for us.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be.
With Ecclesiastichal approval of the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro
